MORE than 140 competitors from around the country competed in the inaugural Bright Six Hour Mountain Bike Race on Sunday.

In perfect conditions cyclists faced riding for six hours on an 11km long course of challenging narrow winding bush tracks and dirt roads, completing as many laps as possible in that time.

Competitors raced either individually or in teams.

Local Kel Boers won the Men’s Solo open event, completing an exhausting 12 laps, while Elizabeth Windsor took out the Women’s Solo title with nine laps completed.

Event organisers have been praised for the enormous success of the race.

Members of the Alpine Cycling Club have spent the last six months creating many of the tracks, which will be a wonderful addition to the mountain bike trails around Bright.

The Bright Six Hour Mountain Bike Race is set to become an annual race, with even more competitors expected next year.
