Step up to health

FANCY FEET: Fraser Stevenson of Sports First and Louise Marker of Mansfield Podiatry are joining forces to promote Foot Health Week next week.

Experts can help lessen the burden carried by your feet

FANCY a walk three times around the world?

Well, unfortunately, your feet don’t get a choice in the matter with the average pair traversing a massive 128,000 kilometres in a lifetime - the equivalent distance to three times around the world.

It therefore makes sense to make your journey a comfortable one by investing in good shoes, and trying to make the burden on your feet that much lighter.

Foot Health Week is running between October 12 and 18 and the theme this year is Being Overweight Can Damage Your Feet.

Yes, being overweight leads to greater than usual forces being exerted on our lower limbs and increases overall foot problems.

Feet are often the most neglected and forgotten part of our bodies.

Research has shown that people are more likely to have serviced their car than to have had their feet checked by a podiatrist, yet our feet remain our most popular, and cost effective, mode of transport.

So to celebrate foot health week, Louise Marker from Mansfield Podiatry and Fraser Stevenson from Sports First are offering a special deal for all local readers.

Head to the Mansfield Football Club rooms on Thursday, October 16, to receive your free foot assessment, free footwear assessment and a free group fitness session, including a general health assessment.
