TOP TRIO: Rebecca Thomson, Courtney Field and Nicci Clark celebrate their success at the junior track omnium championships on Sunday.
IT has been a busy couple of weeks on the track for Beechworth siblings Matt and Nicci Clark.
Nicci competed at the recent Cycling Victoria Junior Track Championships, which were staged at the DISC Velodrome in Melbourne, finishing with top results.
She recorded personal best times in both the 500m time trial and the 2000m individual pursuit.
Then it was over to Wangaratta for the 2012 Sports Carnival last weekend, where Nicci once again finished with some great results.
Racing in the combined W15/17 category, Nicci finished fourth in a close finish in the scratch race.
She was moved out to 40m for the 1000m handicap, and rode a fantastic race to record a win.
Nicci was then moved back to 20m for the next 1000m handicap, crossing the line third in another tight finish.
Matt raced in the seniors on a borrowed bike and had a good evening of racing.
He was second behind Wangaratta cyclist Alex Meyland in the B grade scratch race and fourth in the 1000m handicap.
Matt also made the final of the main cycling event on the night - the Wangaratta Wheelrace – and finished a commendable seventh.
On Sunday Nicci raced in the junior track omnium championships at Shepparton.
It was a hot day with riders doing their best to keep cool in between their five events – 500m time trial, scratch race, flying 200m, individual pursuit and points race.
Nicci finished third and received a bronze medal, with national champion Courtney Field from Carnegie winning the event and Rebecca Thomson from Lavington second.
