THE Berwick Show Society has decided to hold limited horse events at its 2008 show on February 23-24.
This decision follows a decision by the DPI to reduce bio-security requirements for holding horse events from February 1.
"Equine Influenza has had a significant impact on everything equine, not the least agricultural shows," said John Tyrrell from the show society.
"We are very pleased to be able to include some horse events at our Show.
"However, it wasn’t possible to cater for all horse groups at this late stage.
"The program will now include pony club and adult riding events on the Sunday."
"We have gone to a lot of trouble and expense to fill the void left by the absence of horses on the main arena.
"The monster truck will again be a major attraction and this year we will include “freestyle motor bikes".
"We have also moved the dog show to the main arena on the Saturday."
Mr Tyrrell is confident that the Berwick Show will be bigger and better than ever.
