Mitch secures 300cc win

RIDING THE GOOD FORM: Mitch Harper with his first place trophy for his division at the Hattah Desert Race, where he finished seventh overall.
Written by ALEX BAIRD.

MITCH Harper was on the road again last month, competing in one of Australia’s biggest enduro desert races.

Riding in the Hattah Desert Race in Mildura, a gruelling four hour race in which many of the country’s elite riders compete, Harper finished seventh overall and once again came first in his class, the 300ccs.

It wasn’t an easy ride for the Germantown youngster, who said it was one of the "most physically demanding races he had competed in".

Harper’s achievement was made even more satisfying after he suffered a mechanical glitch in the early stages of the race.

He had to claw his way back from 69th spot and in one incredible lap he moved up 42 positions.

Harper said he was pleased with the result and will look to continue on with his solid form in the coming months.
