Public wants improved car parking and airstrip

IMPROVED car parking, expansion of the Mt Beauty airstrip and more reliable telecommunications are among the key issues identified in a framework plan for Mt Beauty.

Alpine Shire Council endorsed the Mt Beauty/Tawonga South Framework Plan at its November general meeting.

The document was 10 months in the making and involved extensive dialogue with the community, including forums, questionnaires and five weeks of public exhibition.

A number of initiatives were identified under the categories of planning and land use, open space/connectivity/recreation, infrastructure and character/sense of place.

Improved car parking, pedestrian and cycling connectivity and expansion of the airstrip for emergency aircraft access were among key points for planning and land use.
