CHILLY: Beechworth locals Margaret and Brian Prebble took to a local cafe to enjoy a warming cup of coffee.
Locals rug up to combat a welcome cool change
Written by By LEAH TINDILL.
UMBRELLAS, raincoats and jumpers were pulled from storage on Monday to combat the rain.
Although Beechworth started the week with January’s highest morning temperature of 20.4 degrees, nearly 30 millimetres of rain kept the temperature to a mild high of 23.7 degrees.
Rainfall at Rutherglen and Yackandandah tipped the 30mm mark, among the highest in the North East of Victoria.
Beechworth resident Margaret Prebble said she was enjoying the cool change that she hoped would help her garden.
"We did the gardening yesterday so it’s good for us to have rain," Mrs Prebble said.
Despite today’s sunshine, cooler weather and late showers are expected for the remainder of the week.
